Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of govyservices.com and the sewer scope inspection services provided by Own The Roof Inc., doing business as Govy Home Services ("Govy," "we," "us"). By using our website, booking an inspection, or receiving text messages from us, you agree to these Terms. If a separate written inspection agreement is signed for your inspection, that agreement controls where it conflicts with these Terms.
Contents
1. Our services
Govy performs sewer scope inspections: a visual video-camera survey of the accessible portion of a property's main sewer line, generally from an accessible cleanout toward the municipal connection or private system, followed by a written report and the video footage.
Govy is an inspection-only company. We do not perform, sell, recommend a particular contractor for, or receive referral fees on plumbing repairs, cleaning, hydro-jetting, lining or replacement. We do not perform general home inspections.
2. What an inspection does not cover
A sewer scope is a visual, non-invasive, point-in-time observation. It is not a guarantee, warranty or insurance policy on the condition of the sewer line. Without limitation:
- We can report only on what the camera can see on the day of the inspection. Standing water, sludge, debris, roots, grease, offsets, collapses or bends may block or obscure portions of the line.
- Portions of the line that are inaccessible, beyond the camera's reach, or on the far side of an obstruction are not inspected.
- We do not excavate, remove fixtures or toilets, open sealed or painted-over cleanouts, or move stored belongings to gain access.
- We do not perform hydrostatic, smoke, dye, pressure or flow tests, and we do not evaluate septic systems, drain fields, the municipal main, private branch lines, interior drain lines or fixtures unless specifically agreed in writing.
- Any locating, depth or distance information is an approximation and should be verified before digging. Call Michigan 811 before any excavation.
- We do not evaluate code compliance, permit history, property lines, easements or responsibility for repairs between owners and municipalities.
- Conditions can change after the inspection. We are not responsible for conditions that develop, worsen or are concealed after the inspection.
Our observations are not a substitute for evaluation by a licensed plumber or other qualified professional. If our report notes a concern, you should consult a licensed plumber for further evaluation, repair recommendations and pricing before relying on it for any decision.
3. Booking, access and payment
- Appointments are confirmed when we confirm them to you by phone, text or email.
- You are responsible for making sure we have legal permission to enter the property and a reasonably accessible cleanout or access point. In a real estate transaction, coordinating access through the listing agent or owner is your or your agent's responsibility.
- Pricing is quoted when you book. Payment is due at or before the time of inspection unless we agree otherwise in writing. We may hold the report until payment is received.
- Any fees for late cancellations, rescheduling, or trips where the line cannot be accessed will be disclosed when you book.
4. Reports and video
Reports and video are prepared for the client who ordered and paid for the inspection. You may share them with your real estate agent, lender, insurer, a plumber or another party involved in your transaction. No one other than the client may rely on the report, and we owe no duty to third parties who receive it. Reports and video remain the work product of Govy; we may keep copies for our records and may use de-identified footage (with the property address and personal details removed) for training and educational purposes.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Govy's total liability to you and anyone claiming through you, for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the inspection, report, video, website or these Terms, whether in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise, is limited to the fee you paid for the inspection.
Govy is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including repair or replacement costs, loss of use, lost profits, or diminished property value, even if advised of their possibility.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
6. Claims
If you believe we missed or misreported a condition, you agree to notify us in writing at [email protected] within 30 days of discovering it and, except in a genuine emergency, before any repair, replacement or alteration of the line, so that we have a reasonable opportunity to re-inspect. Failure to do so may bar the claim to the extent the delay or alteration prevents us from evaluating it.

9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state courts located in Oakland County, Michigan, or the federal court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows the current version; changes apply to inspections booked after they are posted.
